Shinde Sena announces support for BJP in Delhi Assembly polls
by T N RAGHUNATHA · The PioneerThe Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has announced its support to the BJP in the Delhi Assembly elections in which the saffron party is taking on the Arvind Kejriwal-headed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress.
Shinde, who is the president of the Shiv Sena and also the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra in the Bharatiya Janata Party-led MahaYuti government in Maharashtra, has conveyed his party’s decision to support the BJP in the Delhi Assembly elections, to BJP’s national president J P Nadda, who is the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister in the Modi government.
In a letter written to Nadda, Shinde stated: “The Shiv Sena under my leadership has been a torch bearer of Hindutva ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray. Following this legacy, the Shiv Sena is a member of the NDA under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.
Shinde stated that the Shiv Sena would actively support all the candidates of the BJP and have directed the Delhi unit of the party to align with the BJP state unit and actively participate in the campaign.
Shiv Sena’s Delhi unit chief Sandeep Chaudhary also met BJP Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva and handed over the letter of support to the saffron party.
Shinde said that for more than three decades, the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance had stood as a powerful force in Indian politics, sharing common ideals of Hindutva and good governance. Their recent victory in the Maharashtra state elections underscored the strength of this partnership.
“Delhi, as the nation’s capital, requires a corruption-free and efficient government…. Shiv Sena, as a loyal NDA ally, is dedicated to supporting BJP to ensure that Delhi benefits from stable and effective governance, similar to the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership,” the deputy chief minister stated.
