Gladiators' Jet SPLITS from wife Zoe after just a year of marriage
by SARAH PACKER, CHIEF SHOWBIZ REPORTER · Mail OnlineLegendary Gladiators star Jet has split from her wife Zoe Gilbert after 18 months together and a year of marriage, MailOnline can reveal.
The Nineties pin-up, 54, real name Diane Youdale, tied the knot with Zoe during an intimate ceremony in July 2023, having met her partner in a supermarket.
But according to sources, the couple have now called off their brief marriage after Diane proposed to Zoe following four months of dating.
The former TV star said she 'just knew' Zoe was the one for her after they spent all their time laughing together, admitting: 'I think you know if you want to be with somebody.'
Jet's relationship with Zoe was her first public romance with a woman after she came out shortly before they committed to each other.
She was the Gladiators' standout star during the programme's first four seasons from 1992-1995.
A source close to the pair, said: 'Diane and Zoe just realised it wasn't to be. They didn't see any point carrying on so decided to end their relationship.
'It's sad, especially as they were only married for a year, but they just weren't getting on.
'On reflection, they may have rushed into making their commitment official but there's no regrets or hard feelings between them.'
A neighbour close to Zoe told MailOnline on Friday that Jet hasn't been at the property for months.
They said: 'It's a shame that their relationship was so brief, Diane hasn't lived here for quite some time.'
Zoe, who works as an educator in the prison service, has also changed her relationship status on Facebook to 'single.'
The pair, whose chance encounter happened at a supermarket when Zoe approached Jet, got hitched in front of just nine friends and family in the summer of 2023.
And they intended to carry on their low-key nuptials enjoying a mini-moon in Northumbria as well as travelling the country to celebrate the happy news with friends, who were unable to attend their wedding.
MailOnline has approached Jet's representative for comment.
Speaking about their special day, Jet said: 'We're married. We kept it very very quiet. Literally nine people on the planet knew. We wanted to keep it really tiny.'
The couple appeared together on ITV's Lorraine with Ranvir Singh in August 2023, revealing how quickly romance had blossomed between them.
Jet said to Zoe: 'I asked you four months in… I just knew. The proposal was really boring, just in the kitchen over a glass of wine, you know, lets do this.'
She continued: 'I think you know if you want to be with somebody and I have kind of done it before in another lifetime. You just know that feeling of resonance.
'Zoe is very well educated, she's very funny, we just spend the moment from waking up to go to sleep laughing.'
Jet had previously spoken on a podcast about her feelings for Zoe, who she said made her feel 'safe' and 'loved.'
When asked if her fanbase was aware of her sexuality, Jet replied: 'Probably not and I don't care, we are what we are, it doesn't matter, I don't give a damn...
'I'm safe and I'm loved and there's no threat to me anymore, and that's what means the world to me.'
Zoe admitted to fancying Jet when she was a Gladiator and called her wife the 'most beautiful woman' she had ever seen.
While Jet has had relationships with men in the past, she said that she's 'never felt tied to any one sexual identity.'
She previously dated former Gladiators co-star Hunter, real name James Crossley, but they split after a year together when she quit the programme following a serious neck injury.
After she and Hunter parted ways, Diane married TV executive George Mayhew, who she agreed to marry after they had been together for a short time.
In 1996, she said: 'We'd only been together four months when George proposed.
'But I knew he was a complete one-off. Not that I've slept with the whole world, I haven't had a lot of boyfriends, but he is different.'
Jet was part of the original lineup of Gladiators when the show was hosted by Ulrika Jonsson and John Fashanu.
The series, which returned last year with Bradley Walsh and his son Barney at the helm, attracted over 14 million viewers in its heyday.
