Paul vs Tyson given the meme treatment as fans mock fight and netflix

by · Mail Online

Well, Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson is officially in the books, and it was certainly something.

Fans and pundits alike had high hopes - even if deep down inside we all knew - that the old Mike Tyson would resurface, if only for 16 minutes.

But it wasn't to be as Jake Paul won by unanimous decision in what was by-in-large a pretty sad affair.

Tyson landing just 18 total punches according to the compubox stats, perfectly sums up what your eyes told you while watching the bout unfold.

To make matters worse, fans were left unable to watch as Netflix struggled to deal with the demand of their first major live sporting event.

Even at the end of a disappointing bout like that, one thing fans can count on, is that the internet will respond with humour.

Fans took aim at Netflix with the streaming service having buffering issues during the fight

And that is no different here, as Netflix, Jake Paul and the bout itself were all subject to the meme treatment from disappointed viewers.

An X account by Men'sHumour was quick to take a swipe at Netflix as they posted a picture of the Netflix buffering wheel and the caption 'This Tyson vs Jake Paul fight is exciting.'

There was also the same treatment reserved for Tyson who, at 58, looked a far cry from the boxing superstar many had remembered.

Some including Barstool Sports questioning whether he had harmed his legacy for money.

Paddy Power took a swipe at Jake Paul, who has become notorious for bouts with fighters outside of their prime, their sport and in some cases both, as they posted on X: 'Jake Paul has just called out a hologram of Muhammad Ali.'

Not to be outdone Greg also referenced the age of fighters called out by Paul, posting: 'BREAKING: Jake Paul has challenged Jimmy Carter (age 100) to a boxing match after beating Mike Tyson (age 58).'

One fan joked Paul would offer to fight an even older opponent in 100-year-old Jimmy Carter
Another expressed their disapproval at Paul fighting an opponent 31 years older than him

And fans were also quick to poke fun at the quality of the in-ring action as Tyson struggled to move and it appeared Paul pulled his punches towards the end of the bout.

LASHYBILLS on X posted a video of an old comedy boxing skit, that somewhat reflect the power of the punches thrown during the fight.

Fans even turned on themselves with the memes as they referenced their own disgust in watching the fight.
