Nintendo Switch 2 Emulator Lichii Can Boot and Run the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

by · DSOGaming

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake has just been released on Nintendo Switch 2. And in record time, the Nintendo Switch 2 emulator, Lichii, can boot and run the game on PC.

For now, only certain Lichii forks can run The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. The official Lichii emulator may not be able to run it yet, so keep that in mind before you download anything you find on the Internet.

The game is also far from fully playable. It still has some major visual issues. The open-world area has flashing artifacts and bloom problems. However, one area seems to work just fine. This area is the Great Deku Tree.

YouTube’s ‘reznoire’ has shared a video showcasing that area running on an Intel Core i9-14900K with an ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090. Reznoire did not mention the fork he used, but we can see that the game does not fully utilize the GPU and the CPU. On this PC system, the remake ran at 40 FPS.

We then have a video from Finn Benchmarks. Finn Benchmarks used the Selevet fork, which appears to be offering great performance. In the Great Deku Tree, he was getting 60 FPS on an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080.

Personally, I would wait a few weeks for the main version of Lichii to support the remake. Still, it is amazing that this new Nintendo Switch 2 game can now boot and run in an emulator. I would not be surprised if Nintendo tried to take it down, just as it did with Yuzu.

A few hours ago, I reported that Lichii ran Star Fox Remake at 30 FPS. Now, a new build has raised the frame rate to 60 FPS. Things are moving fast in the Nintendo Switch 2 emulation scene.

Before closing, I should note that Eglantine and Lichii can boot and run numerous Nintendo Switch 2 games. As such, PC gamers can enjoy Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
