The Official Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Looks Surprisingly Like CryZENx’s UE5 Fan Remake, Exposing Its Haters
by John Papadopoulos · DSOGamingNintendo has just revealed the official remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. And, as the title suggests, this official remake looks surprisingly similar to the fan remake that CryZENx has been working on for years. If anything, this shows just how much fan projects can get right. It also makes some of the loudest “Nintendo fans” look like complete idiots.
Now, I’m not saying they look exactly the same. The official remake is more detailed. And that’s to be expected. However, their art direction is identical.
For instance, here is Link in the official remake (left) and the fan remake (right). As you can see, they look quite similar. Yet some people criticized CryZENx for using this 3D model for Link. Now, those same Nintendo fans are excited about how the official remake looks. Even though it looks similar to the fan remake they were hating.
Over the past few years, we’ve seen A LOT of “Nintendo, hire this man” memes. Many Zelda fans also commented on our articles and said the fan remake looked bad. And now, here comes Nintendo, using a similar art style for its official remake. This proves that CryZENx did an incredible job, no matter what the haters said over the years.
What’s even funnier is that you could get a taste of the remake by downloading the fan remake. I’m not saying the two are 100% identical. However, the combat system looks similar. The environments look similar, too. Even the art style is similar. So, in my eyes, the official remake can easily be described as a more polished version of that fan remake. Or you could say that the fan remake was a beta version of it.
Again, if you put them side by side, you will see that the official remake has better graphics. I’m not talking about which version looks best. The official remake looks way better, hands down. I’m talking about the art style and art direction. These are exactly the same. And these are the things that Zelda fans have been criticizing all these years.
I don’t know if some people were jealous of CryZENx. I’ve seen comments that range from “Why are you posting this sh*t? An official remake would never look like that. This is awful. Stop promoting Unreal Engine 5,” to “CryZENx is a fraud. Don’t support him.”
Well, I’m curious to see what these people will say now that the official remake looks similar. Obviously, some will do a 180 and say that it looks great simply because it is an official Nintendo remake. The irony of not being able to form your own opinion is on full display here.
Below, you can find two videos. The first is from CryZENx’s fan remake, where he recreated the Inside Deku Tree level. The second is the official gameplay trailer. I timestamped it at the exact point where the developers enter Inside Deku Tree. You can’t possibly say they don’t look similar. Unless your ego won’t let you admit a simple fact.
So, there you have it. This is another case where a fan was able to envision what the developers wanted to make. But hey, who cares, right? As long as we leave hateful comments everything is fine. So, let’s get back to “DLSS 5 is awful,” which seems to be the trend among the haters these days.
You’re welcome!
