Metro 2039 Will Be Released in February 2027, Gets First Gameplay Trailer

Deep Silver has announced that Metro 2039 has been delayed until February 2027. Moreover, the publisher has shared its first gameplay trailer, which you can find below.

In Metro 2039, players will journey into the dark heart of post-apocalyptic Moscow in a harrowing conflict for the very soul of the Metro. They will also assume the role of a Stranger who has to face a fanatical Spartan known as Hunter.

According to the devs, players will experience the most shocking METRO adventure yet in a powerful single-player story that weaves exploration, survival, combat, and stealth across a hauntingly beautiful but deadly world with unparalleled immersion.

In April, 4A Games revealed that the game’s antagonist was not just “Fuhrer”, but none other than the first Spartan himself, Hunter. So, today we get the first in-game look at him, adorned in a decorated Novoreich uniform, a fascist perversion of the iconic Spartan armour.

Gameplay was really what the team wanted to show off here. Captured entirely in-game, they give glimpses into the diverse environments from the game, including many that directly inspired the nightmarish visions of the reveal trailer. As such, we get to see deadly wildlands, irradiated Moscow streets, struggling station communities, and the terrifying depths of the tunnels themselves.

Captured entirely in-game, with a blend of first-person shots and custom camera angles, fans can witness Metro 2039’s trademark mix of immersion, survival, stealth, violence, and horror. Everything that makes METRO, METRO, has returned. However, there are some new features hinted at here, too. For instance, we get our first look at the Shatun weapon firing in anger. We also see new items, new mutant variants, and new ways to explore or take advantage of the environment.

Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!
