Unreal Engine 5-Powered Single-Player Action Adventure, Blood Message, Gets Official Gameplay Walkthrough Video
by John Papadopoulos · DSOGamingOne of the games that impressed at the Summer Game Fest 2026 event was Blood Message. And today, NetEase shared an official gameplay walkthrough video, showcasing 19 minutes of gameplay from it.
Blood Message is inspired by the historic Dunhuang Uprising. The story takes place in the year 848, near the end of China’s Tang Dynasty. You play as an unnamed messenger who must travel more than 1,000 miles across the country. Your mission is to deliver a vital message. If you succeed, you may be able to save your homeland from danger.
Players will travel through deadly places like empty deserts, wild forests, and dangerous land in East and Central Asia. They will have to survive tough battles, harsh land, and powerful enemies. The game’s setting will show a special time in Chinese history, filled with old traditions, culture, and stories from that era.
Blood Message will be a story-focused game that plays like a movie. It aims to have exciting and realistic fighting, mixing sneaky moves and survival skills. The creators want to take players on an emotional journey, with themes like family, honor, sacrifice, and staying true to your culture.
The video shows the game’s intense and realistic combat. Players can use light and heavy attacks, dodge enemy strikes, block, parry, counterattack, and perform finishing moves. These mechanics work together to create fast, smooth, and exciting battles.
At this point in the story, the main character is trying to escape enemy soldiers who are chasing and surrounding him. At the same time, important events are taking place in his hometown. His main goal is to return home, find his son, and escape with him.
The demo also includes a thrilling chase sequence that highlights the game’s story-focused gameplay and movie-like presentation.
There is currently no ETA for when Blood Message will come out. Naturally, I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
