We’re starting to get a better picture of what led to this assassination…

On Friday, it was announced that Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah native (seen in his mugshot below), was taken into custody in connection with the death of Charlie Kirk. President Donald Trump was the first to confirm an individual was in custody.

The Turning Point USA founder, as we’ve covered, was shot and killed during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. He was just 31. After a 33-hour manhunt, the suspect was identified and brought in for questioning on Thursday night. A lot has been uncovered so far…

What His Family Knew

In a press conference on Friday, Utah Governor Spencer Cox revealed a family member told the authorities that Tyler had become “more political in recent years.” He even allegedly spoke about Charlie before the shooting — mentioning he was coming to the university:

“The family member referenced a recent incident in which Robinson came to dinner prior to September 10, and in the conversation with another family member, Robinson mentioned Charlie Kirk was coming to UVU. They talked about why they didn’t like him and the viewpoints he had.”

The governor added that the suspect said, “Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate.”

Bullet Engravings

The suspect fired one shot from the top of a building about 200 yards away. A rifle was retrieved nearby as well as unfired casings that were engraved with several messages. One said:

“Hey fascist, catch”

This bullet also included an arrow symbol pointing up, one pointing to the right, and three pointing down.

Others read:

“Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao”

And:

“If you read this, you are gay LMAO”

Despite previous reports, none of the bullet shells referred to transgender issues.

Bella Ciao is an Italian song dedicated to resistance fighters against Nazi troops during World War II.

The casing that contained the bullet that killed Charlie said:

“notices, bulges, OwO what’s this?”

Per USA Today, the term is often used by video game streamers and is part of a meme that gained popularity in 2018-2019. It has ties to animated videos and the furry community, and the New York Post reports it is used by role-playing sex groups online and/or to troll people.

After The Shooting

Tyler allegedly posted messages on Discord after the shooting seeking help to “retrieve a rifle from a drop point,” noting it had been left “in a bush,” the governor alleged. His roommate showed the messages to authorities, which also included comments about engraving bullets, “having left the rifle wrapped in a towel,” and “a mention of a scope and the rifle being unique.”

A “high-powered, bolt-action rifle” was discovered in a wooded area near the campus that matched Tyler’s messages.

Who Turned Him In

When photos and footage of the Dixie Technical College student was released after the shooting, a family member reached out to a family friend, revealing Tyler had “confessed to them or implied” that he’d committed the crime. His father had recognized him and tried to convince him to turn himself in. The family friend, a youth pastor, reportedly looped in the authorities.
