David Schoen, the attorney who claimed to have represented Jeffrey Epstein shortly before the disgraced financier’s death in 2019, is pushing back after Elon Musk alleged that Donald Trump is named in the still-unreleased Epstein files.
In a statement to TMZ, Schoen said, “What I can say definitively is that I discussed this subject with Mr. Epstein at a time when it would have been in his best interests to implicate others, and he made clear that Donald Trump did nothing wrong and that he had no damaging information against him.”
Schoen also reiterated his position on social media, writing, “I can say authoritatively, unequivocally, and definitively that he had no information to hurt President Trump. I specifically asked him!”
His comments come in response to Musk’s bombshell claim on Thursday (May 5), when the tech mogul wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Time to drop the really big bomb. [Trump] is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.”
Trump, who was elected president again in November, previously said he would have “no problem” releasing the Epstein files. Yet the documents remain sealed, raising questions among critics—especially in light of Trump’s decision to declassify records related to the assassinations of JFK, RFK, and Martin Luther King Jr.
