Breaking: World Cup Playoff: Nigeria score against Gabon

The Super Eagles of Nigeria has scored against Gabon in the semifinal of the Africa 2026 World Cup Playoff.

The goal was scored in the second half of the match in the 33rd minute following a mix-up between the Gabonese goalkeeper and players.

A loose ball came the way of Akor Adams, who swerve past the goalkeeper to slot home the ball.

Akor was replaced a few minutes after scoring the goal.

The match started with Nigeria’s Head Coach, Eric Chelle, making changes to the expected starting lineup.

Prominently missing were Captain Troost-Ekong and Moses Simon.

For the clash at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, Victor Osimhen spearheaded the Super Eagles’ attack alongside Akor Adams.

In goal, Stanley Nwabali retained his place, while young defender Benjamin Frederick partnered Calvin Bassey in central defence, a move that saw Troost-Ekong dropped to the bench.

Zaidu Sanusi and Bright Osayi-Samuel are operating as full-backs.

The had Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi, with Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman providing width and creativity from the flanks.
