WAFCON 2026: Super Falcons storm Rabat in stylish Adire
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineDefending champions Super Falcons arrived in Rabat, Morocco, in style on Saturday, flaunting elegant green-and-white Adire gowns with matching headwraps ahead of their opening game at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nigerian players showcased their traditional outfits as they settled in Rabat for their quest to win a record-extending 11th WAFCON title.
Beyond their colourful arrival, several members of the squad took to social media to create content and celebrate the moment.
Esther Okoronkwo, Jennifer Echegini and Michelle Alozie shared a light-hearted video themed “Rich Aunty Vibes” while dressed in their Adire outfits.
Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie also entertained supporters with a series of comic skits and poses.
Defender Tosin Demehin and Folashade Ijamilusi were among other Super Falcons players who shared photographs and videos showcasing the traditional attire.
Nigeria’s arrival in Rabat followed the conclusion of a 10-day training camp in Casablanca, where head coach Justine Madugu prepared his squad for the continental tournament.
The Falcons rounded off their preparations with a 2-1 victory over Tanzania in an international friendly on Thursday, handing the defending champions a confidence boost ahead of their opening fixture.
Nigeria will begin their Group C campaign against Malawi on Tuesday at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat.
Madugu’s side will remain at the venue for their second group game against Zambia on Saturday, August 1, before facing Egypt in their final group fixture at the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday, August 5.

The Super Falcons enter the tournament as the most successful side in its history, having lifted the continental title 10 times.
Ahead of their title defence, the Nigeria Football Federation also unveiled a special 10-star Super Falcons jersey to celebrate the team’s dominance of African women’s football.
The 10 stars are positioned around the national badge, with each representing one of Nigeria’s WAFCON titles.
The Falcons will now turn their attention to Tuesday’s encounter against Malawi as they begin the push for an unprecedented 11th continental crown.
