AFCON 2025: Nwabali, Onyeka doubtful for Uganda
by Ganiyu Mubarak · The Eagle OnlineUncertainty surrounds the availability of Stanley Nwabali and Frank Onyeka ahead of Nigeria’s final Group C clash against Uganda at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 on Tuesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nigeria is at the top of Group C and has qualified for the Round of 16.
This came after two wins.
Super Eagles Coach, Eric Chelle, hinted injuries could rule out the duo, raising questions over possible changes to Nigeria’s starting line-up.
Chelle disclosed that Nwabali is battling a knee concern, while Onyeka is managing a slight ankle issue ahead of the fixture.
He said medical evaluations would determine whether the players feature, keeping fans and pundits guessing until match day.
He said: “Nwabali has a knee issue and Onyeka has a slight ankle problem.
“We will assess them before the game.”
Nigeria are expected to rotate their squad, but the possible absence of two regulars may influence tactical decisions against the Cranes.
