Oriire Rescue: Gov. Makinde mourns security agents who died
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineThe Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has mourned security operatives who lost their lives during the rescue of pupils and teachers kidnapped from Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
Makinde stated this in a tweet on his X handle hours after the Presidency announced the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers.
The abductees were kidnapped from their schools on May 15, 2026.
They were rescued by a combined team of the military, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Police on Thursday.
Makinde, who expressed gratitude for the safe return of the teachers and pupils, wrote on X on Thursday: “Really grateful for the safe return of the children and teachers abducted from Oriire LGA 56 days ago.
“Our priority now is to ensure they are reunited with their families and support their rehabilitation after this traumatic experience.
