Four suits challenging Adeola’s Ogun 2027 bid withdrawn — aide
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineFour separate court cases challenging the 2027 governorship ambition of All Progressives Congress candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi), have been discontinued by the plaintiffs, his Media Adviser, Kayode Odunaro, has said.
Adeola, who chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, is seeking to secure the APC ticket for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
In a statement on Wednesday, Odunaro said one of the cases was withdrawn on August 24, 2026, while the other three were discontinued on September 7.
According to him, the withdrawals were formally made in open court, with the defendants and their lawyers served notices of discontinuance.
The first suit, numbered FHC/AB/CS/87/26, was filed by Professor Awolola Awoniyi under the Freedom of Information Act 2011 against Adeola, the Independent National Electoral Commission, APC, Guardian Newspapers Limited and the Inspector-General of Police.
Another case, FHC/ABJ/CS/844/26, was instituted by Arc. Akerele Abiodun John, Ogun State Chairman of the Booth Party; Adeyemi Solomon Oluwaseyifunmi, Ogun State Chairman of the Young Progressive Party; Ola Olamide Emmanuel of the Action Democratic Party; Ayinde Oluwayemisi Abiola, an ADP member; and Fesomade Gbadebo of the Labour Party.
Adeola, INEC and APC were also listed as defendants in the suit.
Odunaro said the remaining cases, FHC/ABJ/CS/989/2026 and FHC/ABJ/CS/884/26, were filed by some of the party officials and members involved in the earlier suits, as well as Dr Olufemi Soluade, Ogun State Chairman of the African Democratic Party; Oluwabukola Soyoye Temitope of the Labour Party; and Ogunremi Abiodu Oluwaseun.

He said the plaintiffs did not publicly state why they chose to withdraw the suits.
Odunaro, however, claimed that the litigants had become convinced of the merit of Adeola’s candidacy and had opted to support his political ambition ahead of the 2027 election.
Adeola welcomed the development, according to his aide, saying the discontinuation of the cases would enable him to concentrate on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Ogun State.
Odunaro added that the senator would continue his mobilisation and campaign across the state ahead of the 2027 general election.
