Passenger inflicts deep cut on okada rider
by Hassan Muaz · The Eagle OnlineA passenger, Sherif Oyeniyi, has inflicted a deep cut on a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as okada, Ahmed Owolabi, in the Arepo area of Ogun State.
The incident, according to a report, occurred on Saturday as the okada rider was getting close to the conclusion of the journey.
According to a police report, the Divisional Police Officer of Warewa successfully rescued Owolabi from bleeding to death.
According to a police report, the rider’s brother, Alani Muritala, reported the case on January 11, 2025 at about 4:15pm at Warema Divisional Police Headquarters.
Muritala said Owolabi, a 27-year-old motorcyclist from Onimane Magada Ibafo, had been injured by Oyeniyi, who lives at 44, Association Road, Orange Estate, Voera, Arepo, Ogun State.

The complainant stated that while Owolabi was conveying Oyeniyi to his destination in Arepo, he attacked the okada rider close to his residence at Orange Estate with a razor blade, inflicting severe deep cuts on his neck in two separate locations.
The Divisional Police Officer, when alerted, quickly transported the victim to a hospital for medical attention, and the suspect has been taken into custody for questioning.
Notably, the suspect displayed no remorse for his actions, but muttered he had earlier visited a seer otherwise known as a voodoo doctor.
He was interrogated if the doctor required blood token or initiation, he replied by saying: “It was the devil’s handiwork.”
The Divisional Crime Branch is conducting an investigation, and the suspect will be charged in court as soon as investigations are completed, Odutola said on Saturday.
