FCT Poll: INEC records hitch-free accreditation, early voting

by · The Eagle Online

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recorded hitch-free accreditation and early voting in many polling units in Gwagwalada, Kwali and Bwari during the FCT Area Council poll.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) is reporting the electoral agency recorded the feat due to the functionality of BVAS machines.

NAN also reports that in all the polling units visited, the BVAS machines were all functioning and there was no case of shortage of electoral materials.

The INEC presiding official, who spoke on condition that his name would not be in print, said that technical officials of the commission spent time to service the BVAS ahead of the exercise.

He also said that the FCT INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner warned the members of National Union or Road Transport Workers (NURTW) engaged for the distribution of the materials to ensure timely distribution.

He added that prompt and timely presence of the security officials also helped to facilitate the work, appealing to the electorate to abide by the rules to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.

At Gwagwalada Pilot Science Primary School, voting commenced before 8:40am with high turnout of voters in all the polling units.

Voting equally started smoothly with security presence on ground at Dabi Primary School in Kwali Area Council.

Also at Polling Unit 075, Wuse Zone 4 in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), accreditation and voting also began early as voters were queuing as at 8:25am.

However, the story was different in Polling Unit 003, Bwari Sarki/Near Chief Palace, Bwari Central.

Everything was set, but voting was yet to commence as at 9:10am.

At FGGC, JAMB and LEA Primary School centres in Bwari, accreditation and voting were yet to start as at 9:17am, though some voters were seen waiting at the centres.
