Breaking: Fire guts Lagos airport old terminal + Video

Details of the incident were still unclear at the time of filing this report.
The affected terminal is a part of the airport’s older infrastructure being upgraded as part of efforts to improve passenger experience.
Confirming the development, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Henry Agbebire, said officials were on ground managing the situation.
Agbebire said: “We are aware of the outbreak, and we are there right now.
“We will publish a statement right now.”

He added that the agency’s emergency response unit had responded.
“Our firefighting team is currently responding and working to curtail the situation,” Agbebire stated.
He assured the public that there were no casualties, adding: “No loss of lives has been recorded.
“Further updates will be recorded.”
Passengers and airport users were advised to remain calm as officials work to fully extinguish the fire and assess the extent of damage.
