CAF president heads to Morocco after visit to Senegal

The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, is set to visit Morocco on Thursday for high-level talks aimed at addressing tensions within African football after leaving Senegal.

CAF disclosed the visit in a statement issued on Wednesday, stating that Motsepe will meet with the President of the Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, as well as members of the wider football community.

The governing body said the visit is part of efforts to engage key stakeholders and strengthen unity across the continent.

The meeting will be followed by a press conference in Rabat scheduled for 17:00 local time (16:00 GMT).

The visit comes amid heightened tension following CAF’s decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco.

Motsepe’s trip also follows a visit to Dakar, Senegal, where he met with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to discuss the fallout from the decision.

CAF said further details of the Morocco visit would be communicated in due course.
