Breaking: US Supreme Court strikes down Trump’s global tariffs

The highest court in the United States of America handed down the ruling on the tariffs on Friday in a 6-3 split decision.
The court held that Trump exceeded his authority in imposing sweeping tariffs through a law reserved for a national emergency.
It said the International Emergency Economic Powers Act “does not authorise the President to impose tariffs”.

The three liberal justices: Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, joined by three conservative justices: Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch and John Roberts, voted to strike down the tariffs.
Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel Alito, and Clarence Thomas dissented.
