Just in: Edo Assembly Speaker resigns amid impeachment moves

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has officially resigned from his position.

His resignation, which took place on Monday, followed intense political maneuvering and imminent impeachment threats by fellow lawmakers within the state legislature.

Available information indicated that Agbebaku stepped down primarily due to mounting political tension and a coordinated plot by several assembly members to oust him through impeachment proceedings during Monday’s plenary session.

His media aide, Ivy Ebojele, confirmed the development via a brief social media statement announcing, “Edo Assembly Speaker Rt Hon Chief Blessing Agbebaku resigns”.
