Police confirm abduction of three university students

The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three students from the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia).

Available information indicated that the three students residing at Living Seed Lodge, located in a bushy area on the outskirts of the students’ residential community, were abducted on Tuesday evening.

The institution’s Chief Security Officer (CSO) raised a distress call to the police on Tuesday night at approximately 9:20 p.m.

Following the report, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately deployed tactical teams and patrol operatives to the scene.

A coordinated sweep of the surrounding forests by police operatives led to the swift rescue of one student.

Intensive search efforts remain ongoing for the other two students.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed these developments in a statement on Wednesday morning.

“The prompt response of the police led to the successful rescue of one of the abducted students.

“Efforts have since been intensified to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining two victims still in captivity and the arrest of the perpetrators” the statement reads in part.

Nansel stated that the commissioner of police has directed all operational and intelligence assets of the command to sustain the ongoing operation until the remaining victims are rescued unharmed.

He assured members of the public that no effort will be spared in bringing the criminals to justice.

The command, however, urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and continue to support the police by providing timely and credible information that could assist ongoing operations.

Members of the public are also advised to promptly report any suspicious movement or activity to the nearest police station.
