Breaking: Morocco beat Super Eagles in AFCON semi-final

by · The Eagle Online

After 120 minutes of football, Morocco sailed into the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday at the expense of the Super Eagles.

While the Super Eagles of Nigeria scored two of their kicks, the Moroccans succeeded in putting four beyond the reach of Stanley Nwabali.

The semi-final game had ended in a barren draw in a cagey game that did not see any of the two teams play their styles.

This affected the Super Eagles of Nigeria more as the Moroccans caged Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Adams Akor upfront.

So also did the well coordinated passes not come through for the team.

Despite the presence of Alex Iwobi, the absence of Captain Wilfred Ndidi affected the team.

Ndidi was suspended for receiving one yellow card too many in the quarter-final match.
