A major loss, Oborevwori mourns business mogul Nuel Ojei
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineGovernor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has mourned the passing of businessman and philanthropist Emmanuel Ojei, describing it as a major loss to the state and the nation at large.
Fondly known as Nuel Ojei, the 74-year-old industrialist died on Saturday night in his hometown of Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Reacting to the news of his demise in a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori described the late businessman as an influential entrepreneur whose impact went beyond Delta State.
He said Ojei was “an outstanding entrepreneur, visionary leader and committed Deltan whose contributions to business development, job creation and philanthropy left an enduring legacy in the state and Nigeria at large.”

The governor added that the death of the business mogul was a significant loss to the state and the nation.
According to the statement, Ojei was the founder of Nuel Ojei Holdings and Nuel Auto Distributors.
He began his business career at Rutam Motors in 1973 before establishing companies that later became key players in Nigeria’s automotive and allied industries.
“Under his leadership, Nuel Auto Distributors, founded in 1981, emerged as the sole agent for Mazda vehicles in Nigeria and later partnered with Mercedes-Benz for authorised vehicle servicing,” the statement said.
It added that through Nuel Ojei Holdings, he built an indigenous conglomerate with interests in automotive, banking and construction, providing employment for hundreds of Nigerians.
The statement noted that Delta State University awarded Ojei an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration in 2003 in recognition of his contributions to business development.
It also described him as a philanthropist whose Nuel Ojei Foundation supported educational, health and social causes.
Oborevwori extended condolences to the Ojei family, the people of Issele-Uku and the business community.
“We pray God to grant the soul of Chief Ojei eternal rest in His bosom,” the governor said.
