A Houthi missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has killed at least 12 people and injured 309 others, according to the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority.

Authorities have suspended airport operations following the attack, as images from the scene showed flames and thick smoke rising from the airport.

The fatalities included two Bangladeshi nationals and one person each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan. The authorities said the attack injured people of various nationalities, with some in critical condition.

An eyewitness told media outlets that they were inside the domestic terminal when a missile struck Gate 401. The witness described seeing injured people and said everyone was running.

Several Gulf airlines, including Kuwait Airways, have diverted or cancelled flights to and from Riyadh. Aviation tracker Flightradar24 showed no flights landing at the airport at the time of reporting.

The attack marks the third strike on the airport this week. Earlier Houthi attacks had killed three people.

Trump Considers US Strikes Against Houthis

Following the latest attack, US President Donald Trump said he was considering whether the United States would join Saudi Arabia in military strikes against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in neighbouring Yemen.

“We may. We’re going to look at it,” Trump said when asked about possible US intervention.

“We just found out about the recent attack. So we’ll make a decision. We move very quickly,” he added.
