Deepika Padukone OUT Of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Sequel: 'Unable To Strike A Partnership', Say Makers - Details Inside

In the statement, the producers said, “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership.”
They added, “And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”
The reaction on social media has been mixed. Some users criticized Deepika, with one tweet claiming “Deepika has lot of HEAD WEIGHT proved time and again with Multiple directors and Producers Every Industry should boycott her !!!” Another said, “When an actress can’t give her fullest to a movie, that too in a film which revolves around her role(Mother of God), Removing her is the best decision to take!”
As for Kalki 2898 AD’s box office numbers: the film grossed ₹646.31 crore across India in all languages. Its Hindi version alone earned ₹293.12 crore.
There is no confirmed release date yet for the sequel, but reports suggest it may arrive in late 2026 or in 2027.
Now, speculation is rife about who will replace Deepika Padukone in Kalki Part 2, given the significant role she played in the first film.
