SINGAPORE: Multi-currency e-wallet YouTrip said on Monday afternoon (Oct 19) that most of its services have returned to normal following a "major outage" earlier in the day.

In an update to CNA at around 3.50pm, YouTrip said most functions, including in-app currency exchange and wallet top-ups, were back to normal.

"Some users may still experience intermittent issues with card payments. Resolving this for all our users remains our top priority, and we thank our community for their ongoing patience and kind understanding," it said.

It also reassured users that their funds and accounts remain "completely safe".

At about 11am, 19 of YouTrip's 23 services in Singapore were affected, including wallet top-ups, currency exchange and payment authentication, according to its website.

Services in Thailand were also hit by a major outage, with only three of 14 services listed as operational.

In an update at about 12.45pm, the status of the affected services in Singapore and Thailand had been updated to "service degradation" on its website.

In response to a comment on Facebook, YouTrip acknowledged that its app was experiencing technical difficulties.

Customers may experience “service degradation” when making card payments or using other services, including ATM withdrawals, the company said.

YouTrip added that its teams are carrying out technical maintenance to resolve the issues.

In February, YouTrip users were erroneously charged for attempted transactions after facing issues with their card payments.

CNA has contacted YouTrip for more information on Monday's service outages.
