Palestinian President to attend opening ceremony of Grand Egyptian Museum

CAIRO – 30 October 2025: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) will arrive in Cairo on Friday for a two-day official visit to Egypt at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to participate in the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), scheduled for Saturday.

Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Diab Al-Louh announced that President Abbas was keen to accept the invitation and share this significant occasion with the people of Egypt.

Ambassador Al-Louh emphasized that President Abbas’s participation in this global cultural event reflects the depth of the fraternal and historical ties between the Egyptian and Palestinian peoples. He added that it stems from their shared belief in the unity of path and destiny that links the two brotherly nations.

He further noted that cultural interaction between Egypt and Palestine throughout history has played a vital role in enriching human civilization. The two nations’ civilizations have long intertwined in the fields of art, science, religion, and trade, laying the foundations of a shared cultural and historical legacy that continues to express the enduring bond between their peoples since the dawn of history.
