Elon Musk backs Trump win before hinting at cabinet place to 'let the builders of America build'

The world's richest man Elon Musk has expressed a desire to streamline US government bureaucracy if Donald Trump wins the presidency and offers him a role in the administration, according to reports.

The chief executive officer of Tesla and SpaceX was seen speaking on Tucker Carlson’s online show from Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. And the staunch supporter of the former president voiced his concerns about over-regulation and the size of the bureaucracy, stating, "We need to let the builders of America build", reports The Mirror.

Musk is believed to have donated extensively to help his candidate, with reports of more than $70m going towards win his race against Democrat Kamala Harris in the Presidential Election according to recent campaign finance disclosures. The donations are said to have been made through America PAC, a super political action committee Musk set up in May to support Trump's bid for re-election.

He has said on his social media platform X following mention of his contribution: "The America PAC is just aiming for common sense, centrist values." Such 'super PACs' can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money but are typically prohibited from coordinating their efforts with the candidates they support.

The Federal Election Commission, which oversees federal political campaigns, has permitted candidates and these high-spending groups to collaborate on so-called ground game efforts - legions of people sent out to knock on doors to help boost voter turnout. As The Mirror reports, candidates and political parties have traditionally organised and funded such efforts but Trump's campaign has turned to a few external groups for help, with America PAC being the biggest.
