From joy to heartbreak: England fans in Newcastle as Three Lions are knocked out of the World Cup

Thousands of supporters watched in Newcastle city centre as England was knocked out of the World Cup. The Three Lions took on Argentina in the semi-final of the competition on Wednesday evening.

Former Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon put England 1-0 ahead in the 55th minute. However two Argentina goals in the 85th and the 90th minute secured them a place in the final.

The game took place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, at 8pm UK time. Crowds of supporters watched the match at St James' STACK and the fan zone in Times Square.
