Northumberland teenager to appear in court charged with preparing act of terrorism

Counter Terrorism Policing North East said a 15-year-old boy was charged on Wednesday with one count of engaging in conduct in preparation for committing acts of terrorism, contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
He is also accused of one offence of membership of a proscribed organisation, contrary to Section 11 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
The boy was remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday. CTPNE said he was arrested as part of a pre-planned, intelligence led operation on Thursday, February 20.
A home in Northumberland was also searched as part of the operation.
