Newcastle's Anthony Gordon celebrates his goal.

Newcastle United player ratings as £150m-rated star makes Arsenal touters eat their words

Newcastle United have one foot in the Carabao Cup final after a sparkling display at the Emirates Stadium.

Given the number of times Alexander Isak has been linked with Arsenal, perhaps it was fitting that he shoved the words of the pundits who keep tipping him to sign for the Gunners right down their throats.

On an electric night at the Emirates Stadium, Newcastle started the game with no fear and created numerous openings into the Arsenal half. Isak opened the scoring on 37 minutes when he struck gold after a long boot forward by Martin Dubravka.

Sven Botman flicked on for Jacob Murphy who rolled it perfectly to the Sweden star to smash home off the bar. It was 2-0 six minutes into the second half as Murphy picked out Isak again before his effort was saved by David Raya and this time Anthony Gordon tucked home!

Here's how the Magpies rated in the capital against the Gunners:

Martin Dubravka 8

An unflappable presence as Arsenal bombarded his goalmouth. Can Newcastle afford to let him go?

Tino Livramento 7

Another solid display as he worked the space around him well and coped well under Arsenal pressure.

Sven Botman 8

One scary moment when he was outpaced by Martinelli but otherwise more than capable. A vital flick on for the opener.

Dan Burn 8

In the form of his life. Even at 32 and in the autumn of his career he must not believe what is happening around him. A towering presence.

Lewis Hall 8

A performance above his fledgling years. Chelsea must be kicking themselves.

Sandro Tonali 8

A slick and tidy. Rolled passes around like he was in the park on a Sunday afternoon let alone a cup semi-final. Had a hand in the second goal.

Joe Willock 6

Grew into the game a little in the second half after a quiet start against his old club. Just 21 touches overall.

Joelinton 8

One shaky moment when he upended up Partey. But overall a strong competitor.

Jacob Murphy 8

A hand in both goals as he strikes up a fine understanding with Isak. Just 20 touches but boy were they effective.

Anthony Gordon 8

The Scouser had a low key first half but came alive after the break with a well taken goal and a couple of biting challenges.

Alexander Isak 10

A masterclass. Isak is too hot to handle right now. Caused havoc throughout. A fine opening goal and forced the save out of Raya to allow Gordon to score. Arsenal were glad to see the back of him.
