Manager responds after president shoots down Crystal Palace rumour
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessGetafe manager Jose Bordalás has responded to comments from his president amid reports of interest from Crystal Palace.
Marca cover comments from Bordalás today in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against Real Betis. One of the topics up for discussion was Ángel Torres’ recent comments regarding his manager.
The Getafe president shot down rumours about a move to Crystal Palace for his manager at a Christmas even this week.
Bordalás has been heavily linked with a move to Selhurst Park this week. Reports in Spain stated that he was at the top of Crystal Palace’s list to replace Oliver Glasner should the Austrian not renew his contract at the end of the season.
It also claimed that Bordalás was seduced by the move. His own deal also expires in the summer. Torres’, though, was having none of those rumours.
He was asked about them during an annual Christmas event this week but shot them down, insisting that a lot of nonsense had been written about Crystal Palace and his manager. He insisted that a move wouldn’t make sense as Bordalás doesn’t even speak English.
Bordalás has now been asked about those comments, he insisted it was all just a joke from the Getafe president.
“When they put a microphone in front of him… The coach tells everyone that we speak English, both my staff and I, jokingly, just to be clear,” he said.
