Derby County official on transfer mission in Germany – ‘No secret’ duo attracting interest
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessA Derby County scout was in attendance at Avnet Arena to follow 1. FC Magdeburg’s 4-1 win over SV Darmstadt 98 on Sunday.
That’s at least what Bild are reporting, and they contacted the Derby County official after the match.
The Rams scout was tightlipped and refused to provide any information on the player[s] he came to watch.
“I can’t say,” he told Bild, who haven’t provided the details of the Derby County scout.
Fraser Hornby opened the scoring for Darmstadt in the 29th minute and they maintained their lead until the break. Magdeburg’s Livan Burcu assisted Xavier Amaechi’s equaliser in the 59th minute before scoring the second goal in the 73rd minute.
Magdeburg’s Abu-Bekir Ömer El-Zein and Martijn Kaars also got their names on the score sheet in the final quarter.
Bild state it’s ‘no secret’ both Burcu and Kaars have been attracting interest from clubs outside Germany in recent weeks.
Kaars has operated as a striker and managed 17 goals and six assists from 24 games this season. Burcu has been used on both wings and has three goals and seven assists for the second division German club.
It’s possible for Derby County to go after the Magdeburg duo in the summer window.
Magdeburg are third in the table, a point behind leaders Hamburg, and are in the fight to secure promotion to the Bundesliga.
