Ruben Amorim answers Manchester United questions directly – Insistence there’s no falling out

Sporting Club de Portugal manager Rúben Amorim has promised to tell all on his move to Manchester United, once Friday’s clash with Estrela Amadora is out of the way.

Record cover comments from the Portuguese boss today as he appeared in a press conference as was asked directly about his move to Manchester United.

The Premier League side have been pushed for Amorim’s signature over the last 48 hours after taking the decision to sack Erik ten Hag earlier this week.

A deal has been rapidly progressing and now appears to be complete, with reports in Portugal and England stating as much.

His arrival at Old Trafford may be delayed, though, with it explained that Sporting president Frederico Varandas has insisted that Amorim remain in charge until the next international beak and oversee the clash with Estrela Amadora as well as fixtures against Manchester City and Braga.

That is something Manchester United have reportedly agreed too, with Ruud van Nistelrooy in temporary charge and starting that reign with a 5-2 win over Leicester City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

His appointment is likely to be confirmed beforehand, but Amorim is waiting until after Friday’s clash with Estrela to reveal all, even if he does want to make it clear there has been no war at Sporting with Varandas or anyone else.

“I know you made a trip to come here and talk about this, and it’s natural, but we’re going to leave that until the end of the game,” he said.

“At the end of the game I’ll talk about all these issues. Now I want the team to focus and so do I. I promise that I’ll talk at the end of the game, and everything will be clearer. When we talk now, it’s another destabilization for the squad.

“At the end of the game everything will be clearer, I said it. Right now, the focus is on E. Amadora. In terms of doing things differently, I wouldn’t do it. I didn’t control the situation at all. At the end of the game, we will have time for that.

“The relationship is very good. There is no war, tomorrow it will become clear. Much less rotten peace. It is not my way or the president’s way.

“I don’t think the president forced my hand leave immediately. He’s defending the club’s rights, and I don’t get involved in that, I would never do that. We’re adults and things happen sometimes.”
