Amorim left in ‘rotten peace’ at Sporting Club de Portugal – Manchester United move led to agent fallout
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessRúben Amorim will be living in a ‘rotten peace’ at Sporting Club de Portugal before heading to Manchester United.
That’s according to Record, who say the Sporting coach’s move to Manchester United has caused great tension in the last few days.
Amorim is expected to be named as the new United boss shortly following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal earlier this week.
A deal has been progressing since Tuesday and reports in Portugal last night claimed it had been done, although Amorim would remain in charge at Sporting until the next international break.
Record pick up on that and say that agreement came about after ‘moments of high tension’ between Frederico Varandas and Amorim but also between the Sporting president and the coach’s agent Raul Costa. The latter wanted an agreement that would see the immediate release of his coach.
Instead, they’ve agreed for Amorim to remain in charge until the next international break, leaving him in a ‘kind of rotten peace’ until that point.
That’s a sad end to what had been a fruitful relationship with Varandas and the club, although Amorim will be given a farewell that is ‘worthy’ of his entire career at Sporting.
How that will happen isn’t mentioned but until that point it seems it will be tension and general unhappiness until he departs for Manchester United.
