Birmingham City, Middlesbrough, Southampton, Leicester City and Stoke City are chasing Leeds United’s Joël Piroe.

The claims have surfaced in the Netherlands, and specifically Voetbal International. Birmingham City, Middlesbrough, Southampton, Leicester City and Stoke City are picked out.

VI relay provide their own take on the Leeds United player’s plans over making a switch to the Championship in the winter market.

According to them, Birmingham City, Middlesbrough, Southampton, Leicester City and Stoke City have ‘indeed shown massive interest’.

Daniel Farke hasn’t utilised the 26-year-old regularly this season, with Piroe having played 203 minutes from 10 Premier League matches. The Whites manager has favoured Dominic Calvert-Lewin, which has worked out for Leeds United.

Earlier this month, the striker expressed his wish to feature regularly but refused to push for a move away from Elland Road in January.

That hasn’t stopped Birmingham City, Middlesbrough, Southampton, Leicester City and Stoke City from showing interest. In fact, VI indicate these second division English clubs have all made approaches to sign him in this window.

Middlesbrough [third] and Stoke City [seventh] are in contention to secure promotion to the Premier League. Birmingham City [13th], Leicester City [14th] and Southampton [16th] are currently in mid-table.

The frontman starred for Leeds United in the Championship last season. He scored 19 goals and contributed seven assists from 48 matches. However, he isn’t planning on returning to the second division this month.

Piroe isn’t convinced about joining any of these Championship sides. Therefore, the report say he has ‘turned them all down’. The Leeds United player is unfazed by the massive interest shown by several English clubs.

Birmingham City, Middlesbrough, Southampton, Leicester City and Stoke City are in for disappointment, unless the Leeds United player changes his mind.

Leeds United player not keen on January exit

Earlier this month, Piroe told Voetbal International – so the same source which now says he’s rejected the Championship clubs – that he didn’t fancy a January move.

“Honestly, that’s not on the cards right now. You never know, what if an opportunity arises that you can’t say no to? But personally, I’m not really keen on making a move this winter. Especially because the season is still relatively short and there’s little time to adapt elsewhere. That would be very difficult, I think,” the Leeds United player said.

“If I have to make a transfer, I’d rather join during pre-season and get fully prepared for a new adventure. [laughing] After the World Cup, so to speak. But I’m not thinking about leaving right now. I still want and can be of value to Leeds and contribute to staying out of the relegation zone.”
