Bo Svensson to Leeds United: Pause put on claims of Daniel Farke successor

by · Sport Witness

Leeds United currently find themselves 18th in the Premier League, accompanied by fellow promoted side Burnley and seemingly-doomed Wolves. The Yorkshire club’s priority this season will have been avoiding relegation, although there was obviously hope for more.

Daniel Farke recently spoke about unrealistic expectations around Elland Road, suggesting some fans wanted a fight for European football this season.

One of the frustrations for Leeds United fans will be seeing Sunderland, who came up via the playoffs, all the way up in 7th place.

Farke also touched upon that when he spoke to the German media last week, with the manager saying: “In recent years, all promoted teams have been relegated without a trace, despite spending insane amounts on transfers. Due to Financial Fair Play regulations, we couldn’t spend as much as some promoted teams in recent years, but we still wanted to aim to be competitive and stay in the league. That is and remains our main goal.”

The manager’s position has come into question in recent weeks. Names are already being thrown forward as possible replacements. As it stands, Bo Svensson is the favourite as far as odds are concerned. However, there’s very little reason for that.

Bo Svensson is still being paid by Union Berlin

Multiple outlets have thrown his name forward. Berliner Zeitung pick it up and explain there’s absolutely nothing going on. Svensson was last employed by Union Berlin. That was a job he held from May 2024 to December 2024.

Berliner Zeitung report he’s still being paid by Union Berlin until the end of this season. That’s one of the reasons he’s been in no rush to take a job. Svensson is relaxed about his future and has already turned down multiple offers. There’s nothing happening right now and the link itself looks stretched.

Leeds United would probably want someone with PL experience, or at least more experience generally.
