Tottenham asking €50m for player – Spurs price seen as exorbitant
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessFiorentina have joined Juventus in the chase for Tottenham Hotspur‘s Destiny Udogie this summer.
Over the past few weeks, there’s been multiple claims in Italy of the Old Lady’s desire to sign the left-back.
Juve have reportedly identified the Tottenham player as their main target to replace Andrea Cambiaso.
At the start of this month, Sport Witness relayed news of the Turin club floating the idea of a swap deal involving the 23-year-old and Jonathan David. This surfaced just days after the possibility of using Juve goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio in exchange for Udogie had been mentioned.
Fiorentina eyeing Tottenham player
In February, Fabio Paratici ended his second spell with Spurs and joined Fiorentina as sporting director.
He’s a fan of the Italy international and signed him for Tottenham Hotspur from Udinese in 2022. The director is now keen on reuniting with Destiny Udogie at Fiorentina.
That’s according to Monday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, who state La Viola need new fullbacks this summer.
Niccolò Fortini, Fabiano Parisi [injured until October], Robin Gosens and Luis Balbo were the four fullbacks this season.
Fiorentina are expecting to part ways with Fortini and Gosens and their exits would leave Balbo as the only fit left-back.
Both the club and Paratici like the Spurs defender, and the director would be delighted to reunite with him at Fiorentina.
The newspaper claims Spurs want €50m and this is a major obstacle for Paratici. Fiorentina believe this is an exorbitant price, especially taking his injury record into account.
He struggled with muscle and knee injuries this season, forcing him to miss 180 days and 31 matches. Corriere floats an unlikely loan move as an option, but Tottenham would almost certainly reject that idea.
Contract, value and agent info
Destiny Udogie’s contract runs down in 2030, and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is now €30m. The highest was €45m in March 2024.
British agency Elite Project Group Limited represent the Tottenham Hotspur man.
The newspaper makes no mention whether the Italian is open to leaving this summer.
