Aston Villa player agrees deal for transfer – Emery’s side ‘aren’t putting up wall’ for exit

by · Sport Witness

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez has given his approval to join Juventus this summer.

Two days ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that his time at Aston Villa has come to an end.

On Tuesday, we relayed news the 33-year-old’s agent has been in talks with Juventus to find an agreement.

The Serie A side want to sign a new stopper and focus on the Villans star after moving on from Liverpool’s Alisson Becker.

Aston Villa player says yes to transfer

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports Luciano Spalletti’s side have reached an agreement with Emiliano Martínez for a three-year deal.

This wasn’t a minor detail considering he had to accept a lower salary than his current one at Aston Villa. The goalkeeper believes Juventus is the best option at this stage of his career.

The Old Lady now have to find an agreement with Unai Emery’s side and their intention is to take him for free due to his age. That is obviously unrealistic.

Tuttosport also have a report on the World Cup winner and their title say ‘first yes’ and ‘agreement reached’.

The former Arsenal man has agreed to take a pay cut for a three-year deal. This is an important step and shows his total willingness to join the Italian club, who have to close a deal with Aston Villa.

Gazzetta dello Sport state the stopper has already opened the door and Aston Villa have joined him.

The Villans don’t consider the South American ‘untouchable’ and therefore, ‘aren’t putting up a wall’. The is partly because of his age and that the two parties came close to parting ways last summer.

Unai Emery’s side are willing to open the exit door but won’t let him leave for free. They need the right price, which Gazzetta believe is around €10-15m.

Martínez ‘will ask Aston Villa to facilitate’ negotiations with Juventus, who could request for a discount.

Releasing him doesn’t make sense for Aston Villa

The South American has been the No.1 for both the Europa League winners and Argentina for several years. He has a contract until 2029 and is valued at €12m by Transfermarkt.

Taking these factors into account, Aston Villa’s decision to not release him makes perfect sense.
