2 sources state Unai Emery gives approval for Aston Villa exit – Villans way of ‘rewarding’ player
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessValencia receive massive boost to sign Aston Villa‘s Andrés García this summer.
Last month, we relayed news of Los Ches’ new attempt and contacted the 23-year-old’s agent, after failing in January.
On May 27th, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain of the Spanish club intensifying negotiations as Carlos Corberán and Valencia CEO Ron Gourlay are betting on García.
The fullback hasn’t enjoyed a good run since arriving at Villa Park from Levante in January 2025.
He played 109 minutes from eight matches and 83 were from six Premier League matches this season.
Aston Villa make decision
Tribuna Deportiva report Valencia’s priority is to sign a right-back this summer. Thierry Correia will leave when his contract expires in June and Dimitri Foulquier is sidelined with an injury since February and won’t return until November.
This forces Los Ches to strengthen that position, and Andrés García is the main target. A potential move depends on Unai Emery giving the green light for his exit.
Sources inform Tribuna Deportiva the Aston Villa manager approves for the Spaniard to go out on loan. There’s a possibility of including a purchase clause, but it won’t be cheap.
Elche CF and unnamed Serie A sides have shown interest in him, but Valencia seem to be in the driving seat to secure the fullback’s services. A move to Mestalla also appeals to the player.
Tuesday’s edition of AS have a report on the defender, titled: ‘Unai Emery approves loan move for Andrés García’.
Within the report, they explain why the Europa League winners agreed to let him go out on loan.
The Villans manager believes it’s fair for his compatriot to evaluate offers from the start of this summer. There are two reasons for this.
First, the two parties can pick the destination that suits them the most. Aston Villa want to reward García for deciding to stay in January, in case Emery needs him for rotation. This is the second reason.
Valencia and Elche both tried to sign him in January and are in the picture to sign him.
Amid interest from other clubs, the Aston Villa man is seriously considering joining Los Ches. However, the latter are yet to contact the English club.
Loan move win-win for all parties
A loan move, to say a club like Valencia, allows Andrés García enjoy regular game time, which in return improves his value. This benefits both the player and Aston Villa.
At the same time, Los Ches can sign a player without making a significant investment.
He has a contract until 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €7m.
