Nottingham Forest set to make fresh offer – €25m should be enough

Feyenoord have to negotiate with Nottingham Forest for Givairo Read, when the Premier League side return with an improved offer.

On Thursday, Sport Witness relayed news that the Dutch club rejected the Reds’ offer for the right-back.

Later that day, we covered claims that Nottingham Forest offered €25m and are expected to return with an improved bid. Claims elsewhere stated the fee was less than that.

New officials concern for Nottingham Forest

Oliver Glasner’s side are yet to submit new proposal yet, but that will happen soon.

That’s according to Voetbal International journalist Martijn Krabbendam, and 1908.nl have relayed his comments.

Last month, Dennis te Kloese ended his time at Feyenoord as technical director, to join Mexican side Monterrey.

The Dutch club have appointed Robert Eenhoorn as their new CEO and Dévy Rigaux as technical director.

Krabbendam explains the duo have a different approach to Feyenoord transfers. This new transfer policy has become a hindrance for the City Ground club to sign Givairo Read.

“The new policy is that players won’t just leave Feyenoord,” he said.

“Te Kloese had a different tactic: we sell someone quickly, so at least that’s secure, and from there you can make purchases. Rigaux and Eenhoorn do things differently and want to get the absolute maximum out of every player.”

Nottingham Forest to return for Dutchman

Givairo Read

The VI journalist is confident the English club won’t give up on the Feyenoord fullback and will return with an improved bid soon.

When that happens, he insists the Eredivisie side will negotiate with Nottingham Forest.

“Read came from Volendam for free in 2023. If an offer of around €25m is made for him and he wants to leave, you may have a contract until 2029, but then you also have to consider the player’s interests,” Krabbendam explained.

“I think Nottingham Forest will come back, and soon too, and that Feyenoord will eventually have to sit down at the negotiating table.”

Krabbendam further adds why the Dutch club have to sell some of their players.

“But not when you have 36 contracted players. Then Van Bronckhorst will soon need two pitches to train on. So, he has to get rid of players on the other side as well. It will be quite interesting to see how that plays out. Feyenoord have started pre-season, the World Cup participants will return soon, and you have a very large group to work with,” he added.
