Celtic snatch transfer from Rangers – Player travels to Glasgow for medical

by · Sport Witness

Celtic and Rangers are active in the winter market to improve Martin O’Neill and Danny Röhl’s squad respectively. The two clubs are looking to bring Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Tomas Cvancara to Celtic Park or Ibrox in the winter market.

The German media has already reported Rangers’ efforts to try and secure the striker’s services.

On Tuesday, Fussball Europa reported he could he heading to Ibrox after Röhl’s side made a move to sign him. They also stated the Bundesliga side released him from yesterday’s training. There was no mention of Celtic.

Rangers are now in for disappointment because O’Neill’s side have overtaken them in the transfer race. That’s at least what Sky Deutschland are reporting, and they cover Celtic’s rapid agreement with the German club.

According to them, Celtic reached an agreement with Gladbach to sign the Czech Republic international on Tuesday. The agreement will see the 25-year-old move on loan until the end of this season, with an option to buy.

Sky didn’t mention the purchase clause fee. However, they state the Bhoys will cover the frontman’s full salary during his temporary stay at Celtic Park.

They have also shared a picture of Cvancara ion a plane, accompanied by his agent, David Nehoda. The German TV claims he’s on his way to the UK to carry out medical tests with Celtic on Wednesday.

If there are no last-minute surprises or a late attempt from Rangers to hijack this deal, Cvancara will join Celtic.

Gladbach signed the Czech Republican from Sparta Prague in July 2023 for a reported fee of €10.5m. They are unlikely to recover this amount if Celtic were to make his stay permanent in the summer.

Last July, the German club allowed him to join Antalyaspor on a season-long loan deal. His temporary stay has already been terminated. The player is now on his way to Glasgow.
