Real Sociedad watching Liverpool and Newcastle negotiations for Isak closely as striker trains with them

Real Sociedad ‘remain attentive’ to the situation between Liverpool, Newcastle United and Alexander Isak as the Swedish striker trains with them this week.

That’s according to El Diario Vasco, who report that the Spanish club remain hopeful Newcastle sanction a departure for the forward.

Liverpool have seen a first bid for Isak rejected today as they continue to spend big this summer completely changing Arne Slot’s squad.

They are believed to already have an agreement in place with Isak on personal terms. He, in turn, is keen on the move and has refused to travel with Newcastle for pre-season. Instead, he a report yesterday stated that he is training with Real Sociedad and recovering from a reported thigh issue.

The Spanish side are closely monitoring the situation as they hold a 10% stake in any profit that Newcastle could make from the deal.

That would be more than welcome as they’ve lost the income from qualifying for Europe and could do with the funds this summer. They could earn a significant sum from the Liverpool deal, which is likely to be worth over €100m.

For now, it’s a case of wait and see, with the striker training with his former side this week as Liverpool and Newcastle negotiate a possible transfer.
