Xbox reveals new AI assistant to help you get better at gaming
Copilot is the “ultimate gaming sidekick”
by Ali Shutler · NMEXbox has revealed a new, AI-powered assistant to help you get better at gaming.
Revealed yesterday (March 13) on the official Xbox podcast, Copilot For Gaming has been described as the “ultimate gaming sidekick” and will reportedly “help you get to your favorite games faster, coach you to improve your skills, and connect you better with your friends and communities. Copilot for Gaming will be there when you need it but out of the way if you don’t.”
“Gaming is the only form of entertainment where you can get stuck,” explained Vice President of Gaming AI, Fatima Kardar on the podcast. “So that’s where you want something to show up to say, ‘let’s help you get past that.’”
She went on to say gamers can chat to the AI tool and it can “trash talk you” if that’s what you need from it. “It’s not just about AI showing up to help you, it’s about AI showing up at the right moments. It can’t be intrusive,” she added, saying the team needed to host a series of test events to get the balance right. “We’re going to put something out and we want people to try it, because the more people that try it, the more it will learn.”
Xbox Insiders will be able to try out an early preview of the AI tool soon on mobile but Xbox has also shared some clips of Copilot in action.

Fatima Kardar went on to say there’s a “lot” of AI coming this year for Xbox.
The response to Xbox Copilot For Gaming has been mixed. “This is something that absolutely no one was asking for,” said one player, with others worried about the environmental impact of AI and the huge amount of electricity it typically uses.
“I don’t understand the hate for this feature, it’s clearly not for people that have already played tons of titles and have experience playing games,” wrote one fan. ”As long as clippy doesn’t pop up on screen while I’m playing a game I won’t complain about more features to help people out. If you don’t like it, don’t use it. Pretty simple,” said another.
In other news, Konami has finally given fans a proper look at the long-awaited Silent Hill f with a terrifying new trailer.
