Disclosure and Pa Salieu have released their cold new collaboration ‘King Steps’ – take a listen below.

The dance duo and the UK rap icon have teamed up to drop the brand new garage track in an exciting new direction for Salieu. It follows the Coventry rapper’s newest mixtape ‘Afrikan Alien‘, which dropped shortly after he was released from prison in September.

Speaking about the track, Disclosure said: “We’re excited to continue showcasing the darker, harder side of our sound with ‘King Steps’. UK Garage has always been a core influence in our music, and it’s incredible to see its impact growing so much over the past year.

“Collaborating with Pa Salieu – who’s delivering some of the best music coming out of the UK right now – makes it the perfect time to release this track.”

Meanwhile, Salieu said: “I’m an Afrikan Alien, and I know that garage music isn’t a genre people might expect me to jump on – but that’s what being an alien is about, moving from planet to planet, sound to sound. I stepped into Disclosure’s world and together we created an atmosphere that blends where we’re both coming from. That is true collaboration.” Listen to ‘King Steps’ here:

In our four star review of ‘Afrikan Alien’, NME wrote: “From showing off his surprisingly angelic vocal chops on ‘Round & Round’ to delivering introspective gems birthed from his self-reflection, this tape is an enchanting glimpse into the inner workings of the rapper.

“This is not the same Pa Salieu we knew before. This is a new man who should be happily accepted and embraced back into the burgeoning UK rap scene. Welcome back, Pa Salieu.”

It follows his time in prison; the rapper was originally sentenced to 33 months after he was found guilty of possessing a bottle as an offensive weapon and a second count of violent disorder after a fight broke out following the stabbing of his friend Fidel Glasgow, grandson of The Specials’ Neville Staple, in 2018.

However, after 21 months, Salieu announced his return, going on to drop his first new song since his imprisonment called ‘Belly’.

Elsewhere, Disclosure’s London Boiler Room set was recently cancelled due to a crowd surge.
