Tomb Raider remake Legacy Of Atlantis has been delayed to 2027 but will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2.

In December, two new Tomb Raider games were announced during The Game Awards. Legacy Of Atlantis is a faithful remake of the 1996 classic and comes ahead of brand new Lara Croft adventure Tomb Raider: Catalyst.

At the time it was said Legacy Of Atlantis would launch in 2026 while Catalyst would follow in 2027. However game developers Crystal Dynamics have now confirmed the remake will be delayed.

According to a new trailer shared during last night’s (June 2) State Of Play showcase, Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis will be released February 12, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s not known if this delay will impact the launch of Tomb Raider: Catalyst

According to a blog post, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is “a complete reimagining” of the 1996 original. “From your first plunge into Peru’s Lost Valley to your first glimpse at the crumbling ruins of Greece, every environment has been expanded with stunning new visuals, an immersive soundscape, and modernised gameplay that makes exploration, combat, and puzzles feel fresh.”

“This is the adventure fans remember: reimagined in ways that weren’t possible 30 years ago and with new surprises woven in. Whether the original is etched into your memory or you’re meeting Lara for the first time, this is the best way to experience where the legend began.”

A live-action adaptation of Tomb Raider is also currently in the works at Amazon Prime Video. Sophie Turner, who plays Lara Croft, recently said she expects to be busy with the show for the next few years.

She also promised her take on the iconic character won’t be a “sex bombshell”. Instead, the adaptation is “about her story and what drives her, rather than what so many people also love about her, which is how hot she is in the games and the movies. I really want to show the other side. She’s so unashamedly capable. She is not a woman who hides her strengths at all.”
