Alien: Rogue Incursion, a new VR game set within the universe of the beloved horror franchise, now has a December 19 release date.

Alien: Rogue Incursion is a single-player action horror VR game that previews have described as channelling “the bombastic energy James Cameron deployed for Aliens.” Rather than the terror of Alien: IsolationRogue Incursion allows you to live out the power fantasy of taking the fight directly to the xenomorphs.

The game tells a new, original story within the world of Alien. As reported by Eurogamer, a new story trailer reveals protagonist Zula Hendricks, an ex-Colonial Marine, has journeyed to the remote planet of Purdan to rescue her former squadmate Benjamin Carver.

It wouldn’t be an Alien story without some sort of mishap occuring, though. Hendricks’ ship is shot down on approach and quickly swarmed by Xenomorphs. She is accompanied by what appears to be an android companion, Davis 01, who will likely serve as your ‘man in the chair’.

The trailer shows off the environments within the game. Any Alien fan will be familiar with the sights on offer: a scientific facility in ruins with corpses strewn everywhere and a dark secret to uncover.

The gameplay looks to be mostly first-person shooter gunplay alongside exploration of the facility on Purdan. There’s even a glimpse of the franchise’s iconic motion sensor used to detect the xenomorphs when they’re out of sight crawling through the vents.

On the PlayStation Blog, chief product officer TQ Jefferson wrote, “One of our early creative decisions was that whatever happened on Purdan had already happened. Zula is stepping into the aftermath of some event that has left Castor’s Cradle – the research facility – infested with horrifying Xenomorphs.”
