‘Minecraft’ is coming to your favourite theme park

From the digital world to the real one

Minecraft has entered into a deal with Merlin Entertainments, a theme park and attraction company that owns Alton Towers, Legoland, Sea Life, Madame Tussauds, the London Eye, and more.

As reported by The Guardian, Merlin will invest over £85 million into the creation of two Minecraft-themed attractions, either in one of its current theme parks of a city centre. They should appear in the UK and US in 2026 and 2027.

The partnership is called Adventures Made Real and should see attractions in other countries as well. The deal includes themed rides, attractions, hotel rooms, and shops.

Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time with over 300 million copies sold and 140 million players taking part in the virtual world each month. Merlin Entertainments is the second-largest theme park operator in the world, only behind Disney. It’s the biggest in Europe.

Minecraft has been expanding outside of video games recently, with a Minecraft movie in the works starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa. Fans of the game weren’t kind about the trailer for the film, however. “This may be the worst movie trailer i’ve ever seen,” one person wrote.

As Minecraft comes to the real world, it should be noted that players have been bringing the real world to Minecraft for years now. One player even spent 1,000 hours recreating The Louvre.

Another fan recreated the record-breaking Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer in the game. The video turns the glossy, photorealistic visuals from the trailer into Minecraft‘s blocky aesthetic.

Popular Minecraft streamer and YouTuber TommyInnit has just announced he is doing a UK standup comedy tour titled Guide To Survival.

In other news, Alien: Rogue Incursion, a new VR game, is being released next month.
