Elon Musk Claims 'Massive Cyberattack' Against X

· Investopedia

Elon Musk on Monday said his X social media platform had been hit by a "massive cyberattack."

In a Monday afternoon message on the platform, which according to the site DownDetector has experienced several spikes in outage reports during the day, Musk said, "There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against 𝕏," suggesting that an unspecified country could be behind it.

"We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources," Musk wrote. "Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved." Some reports suggested that a hacker group had claimed responsibility.

Musk acquired X, formerly a publicly traded company known as Twitter, in 2022.

Shares of Tesla (TSLA), the electric vehicle maker he runs, were recently down more than 10% amid broad selling in markets Monday.
