Saif Ali Khan attacked: Mumbai Police on Friday detained a person in connection with an attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The person has been brought to the police station for further questioning. This comes a day after an intruder stabbed the 54-year-old actor multiple times at his residence in Bandra. Earlier today, the police said that the suspect was last seen near Bandra railway station. After the incident, the suspect caught the first local train in the morning and headed towards Vasai Virar, police officials said.

Mumbai Police also said that they have taken possession of a portion of the blade extracted from Saif's back, while efforts to recover the remaining part are still underway. Meanwhile, the Lilavati Hospital said that the actor's family and the doctors will decide on moving the actor to a normal ward from the ICU later in the day.

Mumbai police form 20 teams

Notably, Mumbai Police have formed as many as 20 teams to track down and nab the intruder who stabbed Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan in his apartment. They are also examining the CCTV footage of the building showing the intruder, who was armed with a wooden stick and a long Hexa blade, fleeing after the attack which took during a "burglary attempt" in the apartment housed in 'Satguru Sharan' building, officials said.

The intruder did not force his entry or break into the actor's flat but possibly sneaked in at some point during the night with the intention of robbery, police officials said. The 54-year-old, who received six stab injuries, including in his neck, was out of danger following an emergency surgery at the Lilavati Hospital. As per doctors, Saif sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine, and surgery was performed to remove a 2.5-inch-long knife from the actor's spine and repair his 'leaking spinal fluid'. While Saif is "out of danger", doctors are continuing to monitor him. After surgery, he was shifted to ICU, where he is currently recovering.

How was the actor attacked?

The shocking incident unfolded at Saif Ali Khan's residence in the 'Satguru Sharan' building in Bandra, after an intruder allegedly confronted Khan's maid. When Saif attempted to intervene and de-escalate the situation, the confrontation turned physical. The actor sustained injuries during the scuffle and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for treatment. Khan's representatives described the incident as an "attempted burglary" at the actor's residence. The intruder fled from the spot following the incident which took place at around 2.30 am at his 12th-floor house.
